Powszechnie panuje przekonanie, że jest to jedyna budowla widoczna z kosmosu. Otóż Wielki Mur nie jest widoczny z kosmosu, a z niskiej orbity okołoziemskiej i ma postać cienkiej linii, niewidocznej gołym okiem, lecz dopiero na zdjęciu satelitarnym. Z tej odległości są widoczne również inne budowle na Ziemi, na przykład autostrady czy lotniska.
Nie będę się tu rozpisywać o historii Wielkiego Muru, ale czy wiedzieliście że co roku odbywa się na nim bieg maratoński Great Wall of China Marathon? :)
Here's the most characteristic building of China - the Great Wall.
There's a common conviction that this is the only building visible from the space. Although the Great Wall isn't visible from the space but from the low Earth orbit and appears as a thin line not visible to the naked eye but only at the satellite Image. From this distance other buildings on Earth are visible too, e.g. highways and airports.
I won't be dwelling about the history of the Great Wall but did you know that there's an annual marathon on it - Great Wall of China Marathon? :)
